Midrange Storage wird für Unternehmen eingerichtet, die mit nicht überdurchschnittlich hohen Ressourcen ausgestattet sind. IT-Mitarbeiter dieser Unternehmen arbeiten oftmals unter stärkerem Druck als Teams in großen, ressourcenreichen Unternehmen. Dies liegt daran, dass sie zum einen eine breitere Vielfalt an Verantwortung übernehmen, und zum anderen daran, dass sie sich auf IT-Lösungen verlassen müssen, die zwar oberflächlich auf sie zugeschnitten sind, in Wirklichkeit jedoch nur eine minimalistische Version dessen sind, was ihnen versprochen wurde.
