The software technology scene is not new to disruptions that have shaped the industry to what we currently know. The rise of Cloud-native development has, however, shaken the industry and provided a platform for tremendous opportunities. Defining Cloud-Native 

Cloud-native is the approach of building and running applications that maximise on the merits of the cloud computing delivery model. The purpose of this approach is to improve speed, scalability and eventually margin. It is primarily about how, and not where, applications are built and utilised. When organisations design and run applications in the cloud-native approach, they can bring ideas faster into the market thereby responding to customer demands more timely. Overall, it diminishes technical risk by ensuring well-observed risk calculations. 


How Cloud-Native Works 

Cloud native relies on three major parts such as container packaging, dynamic management or orchestration as well as micro services-based architecture. Based on these fundamentals, Cloud-native works by uplifting and maintaining five principles which are: 

  • Use of Infrastructure-as-a-service – It operates on servers that are easily accessible. 
  • Design or evolve systems towards microservices architecture – These are separate and relatively small applications. 
  • Automate and encode – They have unique codes to replace manual work. 
  • Containerise – Package software with all the processes needed enabling easy testing, movement, and use. 
  • Orchestrate – Maximise on private management and orchestration tools other than individual servers. 

These principles have brought about many benefits, such as increasing competitive advantage through gaining greater flexibility, enabling resilience by the work teams and aligning operations with the primary business. 

The cloud-native approach is much more effective than old manual approaches in the field of software technology since it works perfectly with continuous delivery, is not hard to scale and most importantly reduces risk significantly by moving faster with minimal errors.
