Ransomware is a malicious program that is meant to bar the user in accessing the computer system. Also, it usually involves threats to expose the user’s sensitive information until the user pays a certain amount of money that the criminal demands.
These activities have recently become a great challenge to businesses and individuals who fall victims of it. However, almost everyone in the sphere is prone to these malicious activities since the attackers target any persons irrespective of their areas. The main aim of the criminals is a financial benefit and therefore considerations on where their target's operations are not fundamental to them. The attacker promises to remove the threats only on full payment of the amounts though sometimes it may not be true. Individuals may risk their funds as well as their reputations and their partnerships with other organizations.
Many organizations have thus raised their concern on the issue; a move that was only backed up to 37% by the channel partners. However, discrepancies in their beliefs and how the issue has stretched, have been raised. The recent channel partners report by Datto that just approx. of 20% of their customers have fallen victims of this cyberbullying form. A few of the partners even argue that none of their customers have been attacked. On the other hand, 48% of the EMEA organizations confirm the attacks on them and that’s why they give it more concern. Also, most of the channel partners believe that their customers can identify the attack origins.
These statistics leave unclear statements as to whether the customers are just not ready to voice their issues or their responses on the matter is true. However, ransomware is not an issue to ignore since not even a single person is exempted from it and thus Channel should utilize its opportunity in establishing a lasting solution.
